Veemsen Lama is a distinguished British Nepalese filmmaker based in London, whose journey from being a front-line soldier in the British Army to an acclaimed director is both inspiring and remarkable. Lama's passion for storytelling and his commitment to addressing social issues within his community are the driving forces behind his compelling films.
Lama's directorial debut in short films, "MAYA" and "CHYANTI", garnered numerous international awards at prestigious BAFTA and OSCAR qualifying film festivals including following awards for his short film “MAYA”

These films, known for their powerful narratives on social issues within the Nepalese community, established Lama as a filmmaker with a profound sense of purpose and vision. "MAYA" was notably awarded the best short film across all film schools and universities in the UK in 2015. In addition to his award-winning shorts, Lama has directed several other significant projects, including "THE POTTER’S WHEEL and "UNBOXING”, further showcasing his versatility and talent in both Nepalese and British cinema.
Lama's feature film debut, "KATHAPUTALI" ("The Puppet"), is a psychological and supernatural horror-thriller set in Kathmandu, Nepal. The film was a hit in Nepali cinemas and is now available on streaming platforms such as Amazon Prime UK, US, and Vimeo on Demand. This horror film was Winter Film Awards Winner "Best Horror Film" 2021 and Winter Film Awards International Film Festival "Indie Pix Award' 2021
His latest work, "KAMA", an English-language British psychological thriller, was screened in UK cinemas recently and won numerous awards including Best Feature Film in Milan International Film Festival and has been nominated for Best Independent Film in National Film Awards UK 2025.
